The first tip you should know about with the Monk is that you need to use primarily your AoE abilities against regular enemies in order to level up quickly. Skills like Crippling Wave and Lashing Tail Kick should be your main offensive abilities. Your single-target skills just do not kill quick enough to be even worth it in most situations.

Once you start using your AoE skills effectively, you need to worry about maximizing your mobility. For this, I think Dashing Strike is really great. This means maxing out your Dexterity so you can deal a lot of damage and your Vitality so you can stay healthy even during big battles. Having good gear is one of the easiest ways you can level your Monk faster so do not skimp on this aspect of the class.
