Enter The Matrix Review for Xbox
Posted on Monday, August 18, 2003 @ 02:01:13 am E.S.T

Which would you take, the red or the blue pill? Based on the blockbuster hit “The Matrix Reloaded,” comes a game that takes off with bullet time. “Enter the Matrix” is a sub plot of the blockbuster hit “The Matrix Reloaded.” There are 250,000 machines drilling to Zion and you must do everything in your power to help stop them. What part will you play in the war to save Zion?

Graphics: All of the characters in the game have immense detail and show how much work was put into the game. Created by the same people who made the Matrix Trilogy, the game was shot while shooting the movie. There are scenes taken right from the movie in the game, but they could be better shown. The graphics sometimes aren’t crisp, but at other times can be as clear as day. When the creators of the Matrix Trilogy get together to make a game you have high expectations, these expectations should be met.

Design: There are two main aspects to the game, the story and hacking into the matrix. Some other aspects are the main plots of the main characters Niobe and Ghost. You may choose one of the characters at the beginning of the game, and each has their own path to follow. Since they are both on the same mission, you will continually cross paths. Their operator who’s named Sparks is also there to guide them all the way.

Other characters in the game include the crew of the Nebuchadnezzar, Ballard, Soren, Roland, Ice, the Keymaker, Seraph, and the Oracle. You will encounter many different enemies in your fight in the war for Zion such as; the Merovingian, Persephone (and another kiss), the twins, all of the agents, and of course those lovely sentinels. With such powerful enemies, it may be a wonder if you can make it down the rabbit hole. At the end of the game there is a new movie trailer for the last and final Matrix movie, “Matrix Revolutions” (due out in Nov 2003).

The other part to the game is hacking. This is essentially cheating, but there are great things that can come out this. For example 1v1 fights with such characters as Morpheus and Agent Smith. Hacking can bring about many new aspects of the game but can also take a large amount of time. Depending on the person it can be very easy or extremely hard to hack, but when completed successfully, you have hit gold.

Sound: Music from the motion picture “The Matrix Reloaded” is included in the game. The sounds of bullets flying by you, gunfire, punches, and kicks, will make you think you are in a regular war zone. There is not too much emphasis on sound besides the sounds with the movements off all the characters. You can hear if someone is close by because you can hear them walk, this is quite helpful when your low on ammo.

Addiction: The game is quite addicting until you beat it. If you are a hardcore gamer, you can beat this game in no time. Some levels may take more time than others because of the complex mapping that they make you go through. This game will keep you on your toes until you beat it, but once your finished you’ve found the end to this rabbit hole.
