Sim City 4 Review for PC
Posted on Thursday, March 20, 2003 @ 12:03:35 pm E.S.T

Be the Mayor, and create sims within cities you've created. Sim City 4 lets you create cities the way you please. You can have your house on the beach and place the rest of your population next to the factories. The city is based on the way you build it, and the people of the city have their input (strikes, complaints, and always saying whats on their mind). I was never a fan of the Sim City series, but after playing Sim City 4, I'm definately a fan.

Graphics: This games graphics are very clean and crisp. This city is in 3d with a great amount of detail. From a high zoom in point you can see pollution, building detail and the size of your city, while at the closest zoom you can see people going to work stopping at subways and bus stops. The graphics are very nice and can sometimes make you can even make you laugh.

Design: The purpose of the game is to build a city from the ground up. Sim City 4 has a God mode in which you may create your own terrain and set off natural disasters which can be devastating. Mayor mode lets you run the city, from politics to where the next school will go. When your city gets big enough you may also get a casino, baseball parks, airports and all that good stuff we have today. There is also a My Sims mode which lets you place your own customized sim in a house of your choice to see how he likes it. The sim will also inform you about emplyment in the area.

Sound: The sounds of your city are booming. You can even hear the fire trucks putting out fires at factories. The sounds are all the regular sounds around real cities which gives it the unique feeling of your city, but nothing really special at all. The games music gets very boring.

Addiction: Sim City 4 is quite addicting. At first if you've never played it's difficult, but as with anything the more you play the better you get. No one likes to see the city they created go down in the flames or lose all of it people due to traffic and pollution problems. This gives you more reasons to keep playing, and you may never stop.
