Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow Cheat Codes for Nintendo DS
Posted on Tuesday, December 27, 2005

Unlock Rare Ring
The Rare Ring is similar to the Ring of Arcana, making rare items appear a little more frequently when enemies are destroyed. Begin with the Rare Ring by leaving Aria of Sorrow in the GBA slot of your DS when you boot (and begin) a new profile on CVDOS.

Unlockable: Boss Rush
Finish the entire game with best ending (All bosses).

Unlockable: Julius Mode
First, you must equip Paranoia Soul. Then without Mina's charm equipped,go into the mirror that enables you to fight Dario's inner demon, Agni. After this, Julius Mode is unlocked.

Unlockable: Sound Test Mode
Finish the game with the best ending and the Sound Test Mode will become selectable in the Main Menu.

Unlockable: Play as Alucard In Boss Rush
You must be the game with Soma and get 100% completion, and also complete the Julius mode. Go to the the title screen and wait until the konami logo appears. Then enter UP, DOWN, and hold UP. You will hear the sound of a door opening. Enter Boss Rush mode, and you will be Alucard with his Alucard Set.

Unlockable: Hell Flame Soul
Finish Hard Mode with Soma.

Unlock Hard Difficulty And Best Ending
Clear the game with the best ending to play again on Hard Difficulty. The best ending consists of the following prerequisites: get the Paranoia soul, beat Aguni, don/equip Mina's Talisman when meeting Celia, and beat Menace in the Abyss level.

Unlockable: Chaos Ring
The Chaos Ring makes your MP regenerate much more quickly. To earn it, collect 100% of enemy souls.

Hint: Make Dmitri Undead (Again)
When you start the battle with Dimitrii, change your Bullet soul to 'Skeleton' and hit him with it, This will cause him to use the Skeleton soul against you, which is easy to dodge and is also weak. Now you can easily whack Dimitrii to your hearts content whilst taking minimal damage.

Hint: Blood For Profit
Equip the Mimic Soul and head to the clock tower save point. With this soul equipped, you can get hurt on the spikes to gain money, then use the save point to regain health when needed.

Hint: Iron Golem Smash
The Iron Golem is a tough enemy to take down since it usually only takes one damage per hit. Use the Mjollnjr Hammer weapon which will hit several hits instead of just one. If you cleared the game and unlocked the Boss Rush, use the Terror Bear's soul item for a slightly easier attack on the Iron Golem.

Hint: Special Soul Combos
By equipping certain sets of souls, you can unlock special abilities that combine the powers of each soul. These are the combinations:

  • Amalaric Sniper, Skull Archer

  • Guillotiner, Mini Devil

  • Fish Head, Needles

  • Flame Demon, Bat Company

  • Fleaman, Bat Company

  • Slogra, Gaibon

  • Une, Alura Une

  • Hint: Hard To Find Souls
  • Yeti ... Take the Waiter Skeleton Soul and go to the start of the game where Julius and Yoko were seen at. A small figure may be seen in the backdrop. If the WS soul is used, the Yeti will spring forward to attack.

  • Mothman ... Go to the Pinnacle area and locate a hallway with two Final Guards. Use the Rycuda soul on the spotlight's generator between the two Final Guards and nab your enemy.

  • Flying Humanoid ... Go to the area between the Clock Tower boss and the save point. A figure may be seen in the backdrop. Using the Mandragora soul will lure out this enemy.

  • Hint: Batting Final Guards
Final Guard enemies are a hard to kill. Use the Bat Company soul to attack them from behind. This bags you free hits while evading their attacks.

    Hint: Zephyr Blindspot
The goal is to glitch the boss into hanging on the edge of the screen, doing nothing, but being vulnerable to your attacks. Equip Skeleton Ape Soul and Puppet Master Soul. Wait for the boss Zephyr at the opposite side of the room (next to a wall) to goad the boss into doing the sliding attack move. If you manage to execute the Puppet Master skill right before the boss hits your character, the boss will slide through your character (during the animation) and Zephyr will continue sliding into the wall and stuck! From there on out, you simply bash his head in with a rock. Note that if you approach too close, the boss will unstick itself and attack you once more.

    Bug: Get Rare Weapons
  • Make a copy of the game to avoid screwing save file.

  • Choose the copied save and make sure you have the Cinquedia weapon-- Hammer sells it.

  • Warp to Mine of Judgement and enter the Abyss to reach the first save point.

  • Equip Succubus bullet-type soul and Cinquedia

  • Save your game here so you can redo the bug to get desired results .

  • Stand near the left wall and use the Succubus attack (UP + attack) and quicky cancel with special attack. Quickly attack three times and do another special attack--you should be through the wall.

  • Press down + jump to slide--watch your map and you'll see your dot move to the right.

  • Move to the left side of the screen and wait for about 5 minutes.

  • When your dot stops moving, hold left on the d-pad to move back to the right side of the screen and continue until you re-enter the map.

  • Your controls will sometimes be messed up -- you can reset them to default to fix them.

  • Check your swords and bullet-type souls. You'll randomly get weapons you can't normally get -- alucard sword /whip -- and souls from other characters, like Belmont's abilities.

  • Easter Egg: Classic Castlevania Coolness
There are a few left-overs from the 8-bit Castlevania in Dawn of Sorrow. Go to the Demon Guest House and locate the room with a chair and bed. Sit in the chair and a crown (doesn't do anything) will appear.

In the Chapel, employ Hippogryph to reach the bell on the farthest left and a bell will appear. Both of these items were point bonus items in the original NES Castlevania.

    Easter Egg: Konami Man
Locate the room with ceiling spikes in the Cursed Clock Tower. Use Bat Company to get on the small platform and have Soma crouch to cause the Konami Man to appear. Konami Man is a mascot known only to 8-bit Konami game fans (like Goonies II).
